Malta iGaming Seminar Launches Early Bird and iGaming iDol Awards Event

Seminar to host First Ever Awards for iGaming Employees in Malta

The 8th edition of the Malta iGaming Seminar will take place at the Grand Masters Suite, Hilton Malta between the 7th and 9th of November 2016. This was announced by Jeffrey Buttigieg, Director of MIGS and the COO of RE/MAX Malta during a press conference together with The Malta Gaming Authority, Executive Chairman, Joseph Cuschieri.  MIGS have released their early bird rate which will run until the 15th of September 2016.

Addressing the media conference, Mr Buttigieg said “We are delighted to host the 8th edition of the Malta iGaming Seminar, a seminar which started as a local event aimed at educating foreign investors to relocate to Malta and now has become an international event where delegates and speakers converge to discuss, network and debate regulatory gaming policy, latest trends and technology of the global gaming industry.”

Mr. Buttigieg added that the event will be hosted by AJ Thompson, an iGaming veteran and two of the world’s leading experts in Global Gaming, Michael Caselli and Sue Schneider.   MIGS16 will be spread over a three-day programme covering topics from regulatory and taxation to eSports, virtual currencies and block chain, player retention and IMGL Masterclass and many more.  Several renowned experts have already been confirmed their participation such as Warwick Bartlett from GBGC, Anatoliy Knyazev, Co-Founder of Exante whilst the organisers will very shortly be announcing the participation of yet another high level keynote speaker soon.

Mr. Michael Pedersen, the Regional Business Manager of NetEnt, announced that this year the organisers of MIGS16, together with Ambassador events, Ramona Mifsud and himself will be launching a new initiative to promote employees working in the Maltese iGaming community. This will consist of an awards gala dinner that will be called iGaming idol.  This event will be supported by Videoslots.com as a headline sponsor Migs Launch - Press Michael Pedersentogether with the Malta Gaming Authority and others to be announced shortly.

The awards event will be the first of its kind in the iGaming Industry and are aimed at recognising individuals and is open to males and females in every sector of an iGaming operation.  Employers or colleagues will be able to nominate outstanding individuals working within an iGaming company.  Nominees of the award will then have to prove themselves in front of a panel of expert judges and will be drilled on a number of tasks that are relevant to their job description.   iGaming idol has been built on three pillars, namely recognition to employees, charity, where from each ticket there will be donation to charity, namely the Malta Community Chest Fund and entertainment, thereby promising to be an evening for the best of the best in the iGaming Industry.  The event will take place on the 8th of November, the first night of MIGS and will be held in the Grand Masters Suite, Hilton Malta.

Mr. Cuschieri further commented on iGaming iDol by saying ““iGaming Idol is a great addition to the gaming industry here in Malta and I happy to endorse this initiative fully.  Hats off to the organisers whom have created a premium event, which recognizes outstanding individuals and supports charity.  In my view, the iGaming Idol awards further improves the environment for gaming companies and their employees here in Malta and I look forward to attending the award night!”

The Malta iGaming Seminar (MIGS) was the first iGaming seminar ever to be held in Malta in 2009 and today it has become one of the most important iGaming conferences in the world and an integral part of the iGaming Calendar. Last year the event attracted over 450 delegates with over 300 individuals travelling from Europe, Middle East, Asia, South Africa and the Americas.

By submitting the entry form to iGaming Idol, you understand and fully accept the following terms:

  • You can only enter the competition or nominate a colleague/friend the nominee who is:
    • Currently employed within an iGaming company based here in Malta
    • Either working for a gaming operator or working for a supplier to the iGaming industry, who’s revenue is solely derived from iGaming operators i.e. iGaming platform suppliers, game studios, iGaming recruitment agencies etc.
    • Lives the majority of the year in Malta i.e. Malta is their base
  • If your nomination is shortlisted, the next step is to meet the judges for your category. The date and time will be different for each of the categories and will be communicated as soon as the date is set with the judges. You will be expected to come and meet the judges at the Hilton hotel at a given day and time.
    • Unfortunately there is no option to reschedule such appointment, once given.
    • You must show up and register minimum 30 minutes before your appointment.
    • Failure to do so, will result in disqualification.
  • By entering into the iGaming Idol competition, you acknowledge, understand and accept that there may be pictures and video taken at any time. Such pictures and footage may be used for promotional purposes of iGaming Idol at any time at the sole discretion of iGaming Idol, even for future iGaming Idol events in the future. The rights and ownership of such footage and/or pictures belongs to and remains the sole property of iGaming Idol and no payment nor compensation will be given at any time.
  • The voting and judging is done fully by the selected judges in each category, under the supervision of our Audit Partner, BDO Malta. The selection of judges is done at the sole discretion of iGaming Idol management.
  • In the situation that a judge in a given category is too closely connected with a nominee in that same category, for example by working in the same company, that judge will not be allowed to participate in the voting process of that particular nominee.
  • iGaming Idol reserves the right to disqualify any nominee at our sole discretion, should their behaviour or attitude be offensive, aggressive or otherwise not follow what is regarded as accepted behaviour in society in general.
